Cafe Review
Above the constant bustle and energy of Bến Thành Market is an impossibly peaceful oasis of tranquility named The Hidden Elephant. After venturing into a narrow hall and up stairs, this quiet little 30-something seater book cafe is a wonderful escape.
The peaceful theme features soothing background music, people whispering to one another, and my god, people actually reading paper books. There’s a tremendous collection of books, mostly in Vietnamese to choose from throughout every space and crevasse in the cafe.
The elongated cafe nicely breaks up into small areas for you to choose from including a comfy little upstairs nook. Or choose to go outside to the balcony where there’s bar seating overlooking Ho Chi Minh City as well as more kicked back seating.
Their coffee selection includes Vietnamese coffee varieties, espresso based drinks and even egg coffee. The coffees are simple in their preparation and taste.
If you’re looking to sip coffees in an environment that is genuinely calming and care to pick up a good book, The Hidden Elephant is definitely suggested.
